I have enrolled in Wheaton College in Norton, Masssachusetts starting fall 2010. I know it's probably not the most "prestigious" or highly renown college by any means, but I hear it has great academics and a close-knit community. I have heard great things about the school (especially the academics), although I have heard some fairly dreadful things as well in regards to some online reviews from students. (retention rate, graduation rates are rather low; probably due to high annual tuition rate) I consider myself a very dilligent student and managed to achieve high honor roll two years in a row primarily my junior and senior years of high school. However, when I ask certain individuals where I plan on attending college in the fall, they either assume it's the Wheaton College in Illinois or they've never heard of it. Certain reviews online from students are not always positive, yet others seem to have had a positive experience on the whole. I have always thought that the motivation and dilligence of an individual is more important than the college they go to; I hardly expect everyone to have the same opinion as me and I completely understand. (I am open to constructive criticism) Any opinions on how I should approach this? Am I thinking about this whole thing irrationally? (If you write deconstructive or disheartening comments, I can assure you, I will ignore you) Please respond if you know anything about the college (if not, please don't respond)....... Read More »
